Gallery Meets Street

The always-great street art site Graffuturism has just introduced me to the works of JonOne. It seems the artist primarily produces works for galleries, but it’s evident that street art and tagging are significant inspirations for these pieces. I love the use of color throughout, as well as the effect created by repeatedly overlapping the artist’s tag (look closely at the first example below, it’s the clearest) on the colorful, streaked background.

    I see it. If only the taggers on the west side of San Antonio could do more of this and less of that!
