Twisting Tower Designed for an Artist

Norwegian firm Saunders Architecture designed this three-story twisted tower, one of a series of unique artist’s studios the group has made on Fogo Island off the Canadian coast. Looking a bit like an obelisk dedicated to creativity, the studio features a large triangular skylight offering views of the coast. On the ground floor, there is a small kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, and a composting toilet. A long, thin boardwalk leads from the building to the main road. This looks like just the place for a tranquil weekend of creative writing and seaward gazing.

Photographs of the site were taken by Bent René Synnevåg.
