Bill FitzGibbons Lights Up the Night with His LightRails Installation

As part of an effort to revitalize an area of downtown Birmingham, Alabama now known as Railroad Park, city officials asked public space artist Bill FitzGibbons to design a bright, inviting lighting solution for a usually dark railroad underpass. The passage, an Art Deco stunner built in 1931, is now an important artery between downtown and the park itself, beautifully lit up by a network of computerized, colorful LEDs.
